Topo guide Suisse Itinérance, The Tour des Combins

STARTING POINTS AND VARIATIONS

This website suggests a starting point of Bourg Saint Pierre, although it is possible to start from other places, reached by car, public or shared transport.

Variations are also suggested. Why not take the opportunity to explore other waymarked paths that start from the TDC? It will be an excellent way to get to know the area.

TIMINGS

The ideal time to undertake the Tour is from the end of June to the end of September. At the beginning of the summer season, you may still find some snow at higher altitudes.

HIKING TIMES
They are calculated with a formula developed by the Swiss Hiking Association (www.wandern.ch) also used for the geo-navigation of Aosta Valley paths. http://geonavsct.partout.it/pub/geosentieri/).

They correspond to the hiking time of an average hiker and do not take any stop into account. Difficult weather conditions or sections on a snowy terrain may slow down the path. At any rate, we suggest you’ll start early in the morning and plan so that you can reach the following stopover in time.

We suggest you’ll alert your host in case of any delay.

EQUIPMENT

Sturdy hiking boots, technical clothing for hiking (long and short trousers, long-sleeved and short-sleeved t-shirts, socks, sun hat, sun cream, gloves, a head-torch, a first-aid bag and a map.
